Trains in the IL2 FMB
Moving trains make great targets for missions or can add a bit of atmosphere. Are they difficult to set up? Heck no. The video shows how to use them, and how to delay their start:

How to set up Trains: Summary from the Vid
It's as easy as pie:
- Find a train line. They're green.
- Select: View | Object | Trains
- Select a train. There's a generous choice.
- Trains only take two waypoints. Cntrl-Click to place the 1st waypoint. Doing it with the map showing is easier than with the 2D relief. You may need to try more than once. Just away from the line is a good spot to click.
- Place the 2nd waypoint. Remember you can only ever place 2 waypoints.
And that's all it takes to get the puppy chugging along. It'll start moving when the mission starts. But what if you'd like to delay its start?
How to delay the departure of trains: Summary from the vid
Trains can be delayed by a quick adjustment in the mission's .mis file.
- Open the mission's .mis file and find the first line of the train's waypoints. It looks like:
- 126300.00 92100.00 20.00 0 10 5.555555820465088
- Note that there are several lines of waypoints generated by Sturmi, but that's done automatically.
- Change the zero to the number of minutes delay you want, for example 7:
- 126300.00 92100.00 20.00 7 10 5.555555820465088
- Save the file. The train will now start moving 7 minutes after the mission starts.
Not bad, huh? Get the feeling Oleg forgot to stick this in the FMB? Oleg??
Final thoughts
So now you've seen how easy trains are to set up, they can finally be in your missions instead of just everyone else's. It's a pretty colorful feather in the cap. Salut!

to sean,
Mate are you using vista???
If so, then its a vista issue and you need to give the IL launcher administrative privilages. You can do that by right clicking the launcher and then going to Properties. In properties select the tab Compatibility and then check the option "Run this program as administrator". Hope this helps
Great Video!!
sean,
I think you have to create another folder into NN, that you can choosethe mission type ingame, which could be maybe "my fmb experiments"...
Hope it helps

Hi Geoffrey,
This comes a bit late, but you should be able to place a second waypoint. As mentioned and shown in the vid, it can be a bit tricky to set train waypoints.
And more than one train? Yes, no problem.
TRAINS:Hi Nutter,Find I can only set one waypoint for trains. Can we have more than one train?
I remember long ago there was a way to turn ah object round so it wasfacing another direction, but cant remember how to do it
Thx for lotta help here
Hi Danny, Thanks for writing. Bon voyage in the FMB!
Thank you so much for these tutorials!!! I am very grateful!!
Hi Buzzard,
Thanks for the comments. Regarding the overly-destructive bombs, simply using smaller bombs may be your best bet. Crude, but hey, whatever work. m(o.0)m
Thanks for these tutorials! They are a great help to us rookie mission builders. I have my trains running just fine. I do have a question that I hope you can help me with. I have a coop mission built, the target is marshalling yards. One 500 lb. bomb seems to wipeout the whole area! Is there a way to prevent one bomb from doing so much damage to all the stationary objects?
Thanks again,
Buzzard
