Static Cameras in IL2 Sturmovik
Static Cameras allow us to view the battlefield from its position, and give us the ability to zoom in and out.
For testing missions, taking screenshots, making movies or just enjoying the action, the humble, unmoving, static camera works wonders. The video shows how to set one up, in this case for mission testing.

How to place a static camera: Summary from the vid
It's nice 'n easy:
- Select View | Object | Static Camera (scroll down).
- Place a camera with Cntrl-Click.
- Set its Height via the Static Camera tab that will now be showing.
Zoom in and out by Clicking & Dragging the mouse in and out.
Get creative: Realistic Recon Photos
Static Cameras can be used more than the standard mission testing, screenshots and movie making. Recon photos can be a huge immersion enhancer and are easy to make. That's the subject of a seperate tutorial, includng how to use some editing effects in Paint.NET, which is free.
