The IL2 Destruction Brush
The Destruction Brush allows mission builders to destroy 0-100% of buildings in any given urban area. It's quick and easy to use and since we're in a war zone, why not use it in every mission?
The Video
The video below explains how to use the Destruction Brush. A text summary is below it for later reference.

So how can I use it?
It's super easy. In the Full Mission Builder:
- Zoom in on the town or city you want to apply destruction to.
- Select View | Destruction.
- Select a Brush Size and Destruction Level.
- Click back on the map, then hold the F key down while moving the mouse. Voila - you're painting destruction.
- Use the Brightness control to help see different levels of destruction on the map. A high setting works well.
I've heard about a bug. What's the issue?
Yep, there's a bug. Areas under Destroy Ground and Defence Ground Player Targets will always be intact. Work-arounds are:
- Move the Targets and related objects out of the area of desired destruction.
- Make the Targets smaller so they don't affect such a large area.
- Resign yourself to 0% destruction under the Target areas.
Afterword
The Destruction Brush is one of the few tools in the FMB that is truly efficient and graceful to use. Applying a base destruction level over all towns and cities in the area of operations is so easy you might as well do it in every mission you make. It's a good habit to get into.
You should now be ready to apply the Destruction Brush in your IL2 missions. How about giving some feedback about this tutorial below, ask a question or point out something that was missed. Thx!

cOME POSSO USARE I NON FLIABLE AIRCRAFT?
where can you get new aircraft
how do you build airfields
and what sites can you download new planes from?
Hi Flying nutcase thanks for the tutorials
I have found that some aircraft will not start away from an airfield, but some will why is this? I would like the early Russian aircraft 1-16 1-15 bis to start away from airfields for a Spanish civil war campaign is it possible? I Love taking off and landing on roads as some ground just tips the aircraft over on its nose.
Question: how i create/set-up a mision with "full night"? (really dark night, without moon or the light of the sun over the horizon)
Tks!
The bug isn't really a bug. You can't defend or destroy ground targets if they're already destroyed, can you?
Anyway, great tutorials on this site. I'm working on a campaign right now, and I couldn't have done it without them.
kool, nice discription. ive now just found out how to use v1's, take off on a carrier (couse when the mission would begin i would just exsplode!! -_-) and destroy things. but 1 question can u destroy stantionary Aircraft?
Well done flying nutcase keep up the good work mate
hehehe, im liking this idea of destruction brush. loving the tutorials btw, there to the point and very effective despite a few bugs.
How do you use the brush to undo damage, I know there used to be a way to do this, and for the life of me I don't remember how.
hey uhh ive been trying this out for a while and i need some help.I found out that if you go under "place" and them go to "objects" the you get 500 somthing objects called object309 or what not.I have seen some cool stuff in there, planes, hangers ,fake artilliry. But ill never be able to look at each single object. Can u help a guy out?
I have been making missions for the last three years and never knew what the "destruction" actually did so I never used it. Know I know and will be using it.
Thanks.. good clear tutorial also Well done
